GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

Columbian Logistics Network is hiring a General Accountant to support its accounting group. The role prepares and distributes financial reports and assists with accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, tax returns, and other accounting operations.

What you'll do:

• Assist accounting department in meeting its daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities
• Perform regular A/R postings and process customer payments
• Prepare monthly A/R reconciliation workpapers and provide customers statements upon request
• Provide weekly A/R aging analysis
• Support weekly payroll preparation and provide coverage when necessary
• Answer and direct phone calls when necessary
• Assist in month-end financial statement preparation and distribution including posting journal entries and preparing various financial reporting schedules
• Assist facilities with customer debt collections
• Assist with preparation of quarterly fuel tax returns and annual income tax returns
• Manage vendor credit info requests
• Prepare account reconciliations both monthly and semi-annually
• Support weekly payroll preparation and provide coverage when necessary

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) of Accounting from four-year college or university
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
• Speaks clearly and is able to provide helpful answers when responding to questions
• Able to work independently as well as part of a group
• Able to deal with changes, delays or unexpected events. Can suggest a solution when facing a change or problem
• Reacts well under pressure. Follows through on commitments and meets deadlines
