That’s why we’re looking for curious, bold individuals who are eager to grow and create new ways forward—people who want to join us in building a more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive world. RRSNA is seeking a GIS Intern to join our dynamic team and support the company's growing utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects across the United States. The GIS Intern will work closely with Development, Engineering, Environmental, Land, and Operations teams to provide geospatial analysis and mapping support throughout the project lifecycle. This is a twelve (12) week program starting May 17, 2027 – August 6, 2027, in Downtown Houston. ## Key Responsibilities: - Support GIS and project teams through the development and maintenance of geospatial databases, maps, and spatial datasets. - Create, edit, and manage GIS data for renewable energy development, construction, and operational projects. - Generate maps, exhibits, and figures for project development, permitting, environmental reviews, engineering design, and stakeholder presentations. - Conduct spatial analyses related to land suitability, environmental constraints, transmission infrastructure, topography, and project siting. - Assist with data collection, quality control, and validation of GIS datasets from internal and external sources. - Support the preparation of cartographic products and web-based mapping applications. - Assist with integrating geospatial data into project planning and decision-making processes. - Collaborate with Development, Environmental, Land, Engineering, and Operations teams to support project needs. - Perform research and analysis using publicly available GIS databases and geospatial resources. - Help maintain GIS standards, procedures, and documentation. - Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project summaries to communicate analytical findings. - Participate in project meetings and provide mapping and geospatial support as required. - Perform other duties as assigned. ## Requirements: - Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work/student visa. - Enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related discipline. - Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or similar GIS software. - Understanding of GIS concepts, spatial analysis, cartography, coordinate systems, and geospatial data management. - Familiarity with geodatabases, shapefiles, feature services, and data visualization techniques. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Ability to be self-motivated with strong attention to detail. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to excel in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as independently. - Exemplary standards of integrity, safety, ethics, quality, and productivity.
