About this role

Fund for the Public Interest is seeking a Recruiter to join Green Corps, a training program for aspiring environmental organizers. The Recruiter will work with leadership to identify and recruit candidates, manage outreach efforts, and participate in fundraising activities.

What you'll do:

  • Work with Green Corps staff to plan, coordinate, and carry out comprehensive strategies to identify top candidates for our program. Coordinate with and support the efforts of other recruitment staff at The Public Interest Network, of which Green Corps is a part
  • Identify top candidates through in-person and online outreach, review applications, conduct interviews and recommend hiring decisions. Coordinate recruitment outreach plans and goals for all Green Corps staff. Frequent travel will be required to attend career fairs and other outreach events
  • Develop strategic relationships with partner organizations and universities and serve as the public face for our recruitment efforts at conferences, career panels and job forums
  • Manage our tracking and data analysis to identify trends and opportunities
  • Manage candidate communications. Be the first point of contact for candidates during the application and interview process
  • Green Corps is a non-profit, funded in part by individuals and foundations, so that we can provide pay along with our training program. The Recruiter will participate in fundraising tactics like writing donor letters, helping with fundraising events, and individual fundraising meetings to raise funds for Green Corps. You will also join our organizers and run a grassroots campaign office in the summer where you will raise money to support our partner organizations and campaigns as well as hone your organizing and management skills. You may be assigned to a different campaign location for the summer and should be flexible to move
  • This position requires excellent judgement, discretion and the ability to oversee significant projects

What they're looking for:

  • At least one year of grassroots organizing, recruiting or other relevant experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to environmental and social change
  • Detail-oriented to get the small stuff right for our applicants and job candidates, and make sure our recruitment work is effective and efficient
  • A good writer and an articulate spokesperson for our organization
  • Passionate about our campaigns and about building a strong and enduring institution to achieve long-term social change
  • Not a glory seeker; you're glad to be behind the scenes, but also able and willing to take command, solve problems, hold people accountable and motivate staff at all levels of the organization
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities, manage and drive projects involving multiple stakeholders, and demonstrate grace under pressure
  • Motivated by taking on more responsibility

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents
  • Time off
  • A commuter benefit program
  • A 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Parental leave
  • Long term disability insurance
  • May include needs-based student loan assistance
  • An excellent training program
  • Opportunities for advancement
