Ground Software Engineering Intern

York Space Systems is an aerospace company specializing in spacecraft platforms, ground segment services, and mission operations. The Ground Software Engineering Intern will develop and maintain user-facing features for a web-based application used to monitor and control spacecraft constellations, contributing across the frontend and backend stack. The role includes writing tests and documentation, participating in agile ceremonies, and collaborating with experienced engineers through mentorship and code reviews.

What you'll do:

• Develop user-facing features using TypeScript and React, working within an established codebase and tech stack
• Translate designs and requirements into clean, readable code with guidance from senior team members
• Build and maintain reusable UI components following existing design patterns, and contribute to backend APIs when project work requires it
• Write unit tests and documentation for internal users and customers
• Participate in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
• Other duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field
• 0-1 year of software engineering
• Familiarity with modern React or Angular core principles (ex. components, state management, rendering)
• Experience with Git or other source control tools
• Familiarity with consuming REST APIs
• Familiarity with SQL databases
• Eagerness to continue to learn and improve
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to proactively seek information & guidance when encountering vague or confusing requirements
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
• Experience with strongly typed languages such as C# or TypeScript
