About this role

IBM Infrastructure & Technology designs and operates resilient systems spanning mainframes, hybrid cloud platforms, networking, automation, and site reliability. The Hardware Developer will develop IBM hardware products, test and validate components, fix defects, support customer environments, and collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver quality systems.

What you'll do:

  • Develop Hardware Products: Use design documentation, such as Functional Specifications and high-level design documents, to develop IBM hardware and technology products, including server systems, storage systems, and networking systems
  • Test and Validate Components: Ensure components are unit tested and ready to be integrated into the system product, testing functional and RAS aspects of the implementation
  • Provide Fixes and Support: Provide fixes to defects identified by the verification team during the development life cycle and support customer environments in providing end-to-end solutions and resolution of issues
  • Learn and Collaborate: Engage with teams across IBM and external suppliers/vendors to establish relations and deliver quality systems

  • Familiarity with design documentation such as Functional Specifications and high-level design documents used in hardware development
  • Knowledge of unit testing and validation of components to ensure readiness for integration into system products
  • Curiosity about developing hardware and technology products, including server systems, storage systems, and networking systems
  • Understanding of the importance of delivering quality systems to meet market needs
  • Exposure to tools and methods for establishing relations across teams and with external suppliers/vendors
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Exposure to mechanical engineering principles and concepts is beneficial for developing hardware products
  • Knowledge of firmware engineering concepts can aid in testing and validating components
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering principles can support the development of hardware and technology products
