Hardware Engineering Intern

Leica Biosystems develops cancer diagnostic solutions and is part of Danaher. The Hardware Engineering Intern will support sustainment and value-added engineering projects for Aperio Whole Slide Imaging Scanners, including cost reduction, reliability improvement, system-level testing, troubleshooting, and engineering drawing updates.

What you'll do:

• Performing system-level testing to produce data for use within design of experiments
• Work with engineering team on various tasks, including but not limited to, machining, electronics, programming, verification & validation and system-level design and troubleshooting
• Update or refine engineering drawings or processes with the guidance of senior engineers

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Some experience with CAD technologies, like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
• Experience working with complex electromechanical systems
• Extreme comfort with typical Windows programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc). Bonus points for familiarity with Linux / Unix computer environments
