Hardware Engineering Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) designs, manufactures, and installs products and solutions for critical infrastructure. SEL is hiring a Hardware Engineering Intern focused on VHDL Register-Transfer Level (RTL) Digital Logic design for its R&D Communications product group. The intern will support Ethernet Security Gateways, Satellite Synchronized Network Clocks, Ethernet Switches, and other communication products. ## Responsibilities - Analyze, design, and code VHDL RTL digital logic for FPGA systems. - Prepare and maintain internal RTL design documentation. - Conduct moderate to complex peer design reviews. - Write test plans, develop testbenches, create test stimulus, and analyze verification results to demonstrate robustness. - Collaborate with cross-discipline engineers to deliver products for critical infrastructure. ## Qualifications - Currently pursuing a degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering with at least 2 years of technical coursework completed. - Strong writing, technical documentation, and speaking skills. - Ability to rapidly learn new skills and assume new responsibilities. - Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. - Satisfactory background check results and negative drug test result(s). - Experience simulating, synthesizing, and performing timing analysis of digital logic is noted as a potential fit. - Experience with object-oriented programming is noted as a potential fit. ## Internship information SEL managers work with interns to arrange flexible schedules that accommodate classes and studying while working part-time during the school year.
