The Health Educator position is a budgeted role within the UC Pancreas Cancer Center Consortium. The incumbent will provide psychoeducational and educational support to patients with pancreatic cancer participating in a pilot research study conducted across multiple University of California campuses.
In this role, the Health Educator will provide evidence-based health education and psychoeducation related to the study protocol, treatment, and supportive care interventions. The incumbent will educate participants on study procedures, reinforce key health and wellness concepts, facilitate access to educational and supportive resources, and promote participant engagement throughout the research process. The Health Educator will support participants across multiple UC sites and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of investigators, clinicians, and research staff to ensure consistent delivery of patient-centered education and contribute to the successful implementation of research initiatives aimed at improving supportive care and health outcomes.
This is a limited anticipated utilization position. Approximately three counseling sessions are expected during the first year of the pilot project, with the potential for adjustment based on study needs and participant enrollment.
Department Description: The Division of Hematology/Oncology is the largest Division in the Department of Medicine (DOM). Currently, the Division has 100+ Full-time faculty, 11 part-time and/or volunteer faculty, 29 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and non-ACGME fellows, 22 post-doctoral fellows, 32 Non-faculty appointments and 48 administrative and research staff. The Division’s research, clinical and teaching functions are primarily split between the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses, although the faculty, fellows, and staff have appointments and clinical, research, and educational activities at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), and Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) as well.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and three or more years of relevant experience / or equivalent experience / training.
- Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
- Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.
- Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
