About this role
Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) Electrical Supervisor and the guidance of Hydroelectric Plant Electrician II; safely performs electrical installations, maintenance, repair, modifications, and reconditioning of all electrical equipment and apparatus of a large hydroelectric installation in hydroelectric generating and/or pumping plants, aqueduct facilities and other related project facilities. May do general switching at remote unattended stations for the purpose of performing general maintenance.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience installing and testing electrical equipment.
- Experience performing general switching.
- Experience maintaining and repairing large hydroelectric equipment – from 24 volts up to 230,000 volts.
- Experience troubleshooting malfunctions of electrical systems.
- Experience reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and sketches.
- Experience installing and repairing generators, transformers, pump-turbines, motors, circuit breakers and switches.
- Experience installing and repairing conditioning, CO2 fire protection, and alarm systems.
- Experience installing and repairing refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Experience performing Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on electrical equipment.
- Experience providing informal training on procedures for troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.
- Experience using precision electrical meters to measure voltage, current, frequency, and power factor.
- Experience with safety meetings, safety audits, pre-work safety plans & Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
- Experience estimating repair time and equipment.
- Experience in electrical construction including conduit bending wire sizing, and pulling.
- Electrical experience in industrial and commercial settings.
The successful candidate should have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others, maintain consistent and reliable attendance, and have excellent judgment. They should also be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and work proactively to analyze situations and take effective action to complete projects on time and within budget.
