About this role
Heartland Security Insurance Group is a diversified company specializing in insurance, risk management, and financial services. The Accounting Intern will provide accounting and administrative support, including account reconciliation, general ledger activities, document management, and banking or CPA office assistance.
What you'll do:
- Reconcile bank accounts as assigned
- Post, print, obtain signatures on checks as assigned
- Maintain accurate image records of all items posted to the General Ledger
- Run General Ledger Account schedules monthly
- Scan and e-file documents as necessary
- Verify scanned documents for completeness
- Take items to the bank or CPA office as needed
- Assist or perform any other tasks assigned as needed
What they're looking for:
- Enrolled in a degree plan pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting
- A minimum of 9 hours of basic and intermediate accounting, with completion of Intermediate Accounting I & II
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to learn at a rapid pace
- Must be detail oriented and organized
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Must be proficient in Windows Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to relay information clearly and concisely
- Licensed driver in compliance with insurance agency's requirement regarding motor vehicle record

- Classification of Senior in current degree plan
