Job Summary
The Neuroscience Administration Human Resources (HR) Business Partner (HRBP) provides strategic HR guidance and support for the Departments of Neurology, Neurological Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute. This role serves as a trusted partner to faculty and staff, department chairs, vice chairs, center directors, and senior operational leaders, providing HR expertise across the employee life cycle and collaborating with HR colleagues and university, hospital, campus, and School of Medicine partners to deliver timely, high-quality HR services and ensure alignment with university policies and requirements. A key focus of this role is supporting research, tenure, and clinical track faculty and faculty leaders.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Supports the full life cycle of HR services, including talent acquisition, talent management, salary administration, performance management, corrective action, leadership development, coaching, mentoring, and compliance.
- Partners with department and School of Medicine leadership on faculty recruitment, compensation, annual faculty reviews, promotion and tenure, faculty leaves, and appointments.
- Provides guidance and education regarding university policies, HR processes, faculty affairs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partners with the University's Office of International Affairs to facilitate visas, including J-1, H-1B, and O visas, Conrad Waivers, and permanent resident petitions.
- Oversees and supports the promotion and tenure processes and timelines and other faculty-related HR activities.
- Maintains HR-related content on the department website, ensuring information is accurate, current, accessible, and responsive to the needs of faculty, staff, and department leaders.
- Identifies opportunities to improve HR processes and develop policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training, and resources, including fireforms, that support the needs of the Neuroscience departments.
General Responsibilities
- Utilizes and applies in-depth academic and staff HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
- Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from centers of expertise (COEs).
- Provides HR support for academic personnel processes, including administration for academic leaves, policy review and consultation, visa-processing coordination, and facilitation of promotion and tenure procedures.
- Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify "high priority" retention needs.
- Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
- Provides HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on issues to leaders and managers.
- Collaborates with HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client's needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.

- Bachelor's degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 3 years of Human Resources or related progressively responsible experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred
- Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)/ Professional in Human Resources (PHR) within 1 year from date of hire

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
