About this role
Thorlabs designs and manufactures components, instruments, and systems that enable photonics technologies. The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative support for day-to-day HR operations in Jessup, Maryland and Sterling, Virginia, including onboarding and offboarding, employee support, HR information maintenance, engagement programs, recruitment, and HR projects.
What you'll do:
- Executing various administrative tasks related to supporting standard business operations, including employee engagement activities, maintaining TV monitors and other administrative tasks as required
- Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
- Responsible for related onboarding and offboarding process including prepare, compile and complete new hire paperwork in preparation for Orientation; validates I-9 verifications; request ID badge, exit interviews and Termination process
- Updates and maintains relevant employee information on company intranet sites (Paychex, UKG and D365)
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of the Employee Engagement, Wellness Program and College career fair
- Handles employment and wage verifications as well as accurately complete state forms as required
- Assist TQE with safety protocols
- Assist the HR Manager, HRBP and HR Generalist with HR projects
- Assist with recruitment and interview process
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments
- The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position
What they're looking for:
- Experience: 1-2 years' experience of Human Resources experience
- Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
- Ability to operate most standard office equipment
- Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Good to Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
- Excellent telephone and oral communications skills
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization
- Travel to Sterling, VA at least once a week may be required
