Why does the job exist?

 

The Human Resources Generalist - Payroll will:

  • Support accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll transactions for Health Care Authority (HCA);
  • Assist with payroll processing, employee data updates, time and labor corrections, and customer service while ensuring compliance with state and federal payroll regulations;
  • Contribute to efficient payroll operations by helping ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the overall integrity of the payroll process.

How does it get done?

 

The Human Resources Generalist - Payroll is responsible for:

  • Processing payroll transactions, including new hires, terminations, employee changes, and leave adjustments;
  • Reviewing and correcting time and labor exceptions ensuring accurate payroll processing;
  • Assisting with payroll audits, reconciliations, and payroll-related reporting;
  • Responding to employee and manager payroll inquiries and providing customer support;
  • Maintaining payroll records and ensuring compliance with state and federal payroll policies and procedures;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

  • Health Care Authority (HCA) management and employees;
  • Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).

Ideal Candidate

 

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Experience in payroll;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills;
  • Experience processing transactions while meeting deadlines;
  • Desire to learn, work collaboratively, and provide quality service in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualification

 
Bachelor's Degree in any field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Must obtain a Defensive driving certification.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage with extended periods of sitting.  Must be able to lift 25lbs.
