Human Resources Intern (Temporary - Fall)

The City of Santa Fe Springs is committed to exceptional service delivery and is seeking a motivated Human Resources Intern to join their Human Resources Division. This internship will provide hands-on experience in various HR projects, focusing on compliance, compensation, and records management.

What you'll do:

• Conduct a comprehensive audit of personnel files to verify required documentation, ensure compliance with records retention requirements, and identify missing or outdated employment records
• Create and distribute personalized total compensation statements highlighting the value of employee pay and benefits
• Review and update job classifications within the City's online recruitment software to ensure position information is accurate and current
• Support the City's annual compensation study by gathering, analyzing, and organizing market data used to evaluate employee compensation
• Assist with the City's annual compliance audit for employees required to operate City vehicles by coordinating Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing and conducting motor vehicle record reviews to ensure compliance with federal regulations and City policies

What they're looking for:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Dependable, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• HRIS experience preferred
