HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician II
Responsibilities of the HVAC/Energy Management Systems Technician II:
- Plan for, implement and complete, individually or as a part of a team, assigned maintenance, repair and renovation of HVAC tasks professionally, efficiently, effectively and safely in order to minimize unexpected and premature equipment failures in accordance with established policies, procedures and good work practices, and to ensure FM owned and contracted buildings are in safe working order and compliant with codes and regulations.
- Utilizers skills and knowledge with refrigeration, heat transfer, operation of compressors, air handlers, heat pump service, pneumatic systems, energy systems controls, threading and pipe fitting, mechanical cooling and boiler/chiller knowledge and electrical and plumbing skills, especially as they relate to the repairs and maintenance of HVAC equipment.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to oversee HVAC projects. Assist with maintenance, repair and renovation tasks of other various trades, individually or as a part of a team, in order to complete assigned tasks in a professional, effective, efficient and safe manner in accordance with established policies, procedures and good work practices. Work will be completed without elevating to the supervisor except when necessary.
- Learns and effectively utilizes the SCEIS plant maintenance phone app as provided by DOA to effectively and accurately to precisely log time, locations, materials, and resolution details for corrective and preventative maintenance work orders and a detailed description of the work completed including the resolution of the task to ensure that accurate records are maintained on how time and materials are utilized.
- Utilizes the SCEIS mobile app daily to precisely log time, locations, materials, and resolution details for corrective and preventative maintenance work orders.
- Performs other duties as assigned to include disaster assistance in order to ensure the success of facilities management, offers guidance promotes teamwork and cooperation and works to resolve challenges.
Position Duties
- A high school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of higher-skilled commercial, industrial or institutional experience in the installation, repair or maintenance of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems.
- Some boiler and chiller R&M experience and knowledge of electricity and plumbing directly related to HVAC/mechanical systems repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of refrigeration, heat transfer, operation of compressors, heat pump service, pneumatic systems, energy systems controls, mechanical cooling, PLC's/CFC. Strong leadership skills and ability to oversee HVAC projects.
- Knowledge of national and local HVAC regulations and code requirements.
- Knowledge of trade safety practices
- Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices used in the trade.
- Skill in making emergency repairs and adjustments to trade equipment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn provided technology and smart phones.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.
- Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans, specifications and equipment manufacturer's technical bulletins.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally.
- Ability to maintain accurate records relating to time, materials and services provided.
- Ability to work with and assist other trade specialists as needed.
- Ability to work as a part of a team or independently as necessary.
- Must possess a valid Class "D" South Carolina Driver's license.
- Must possess an EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
- Position will be require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires on-call shifts and call back.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
- Position requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Position will be required to report to work during emergency situations and hazardous weather events.
- Must be able to stand for long periods, Climb and work from ladders, stairs and scaffolding.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
