The Carolina Ascent FC Hype Team/Game Day Staff is responsible for creating an exciting, energetic, and memorable match day experience for our fans. Hype Team Members serve as ambassadors for the club by welcoming supporters, assisting with game presentation, supporting promotional activities, and helping execute in-game entertainment from gates opening through postgame.
This is a seasonal, part-time position that is ideal for individuals who enjoy sports, interacting with people, and working in a fast-paced live event environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Pregame
- Welcome and greet fans as they enter American Legion Memorial Stadium.
- Assist with fan engagement/experience at stadium gates.
- Distribute roster cards, promotional items, giveaways, and other marketing materials.
- Participate in the Player Take the Pitch ceremony by carrying and running the large Carolina Ascent flags along the sideline.
- Be in position and prepared for all pregame ceremonies leading up to the National Anthem..
- Other duties as assigned.
During the Match
First Half
- Assist with breaking down the VIP Dining area following pregame hospitality.
- Staff the Freedom Rings Bell activation as assigned.
Halftime
- Assist with the on-field T-Shirt Cannon promotion.
- Help execute halftime contests and fan engagement activities.
- Assist with third-party entertainment acts and promotional activations.
- Provide additional game presentation support wherever needed.
Second Half
- Continue staffing the Freedom Rings Bell activation as assigned.
- Assist with any additional in-game promotional activities as directed by Game Day Leadership.
Postgame
- Thank fans as they exit the stadium.
- Encourage guests to return for the next Carolina Ascent FC home match.
- Distribute exit giveaways, promotional flyers, or other marketing materials.
- Assist with postgame breakdown and cleanup duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Positive, enthusiastic, and outgoing personality.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable interacting with large crowds and fans of all ages.
- Ability to remain standing and walking for extended periods.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to work well as part of a team while following directions from Game Day Leadership.
- Previous experience in sports, entertainment, promotions, customer service, or event operations is preferred but not required.
Compensation
- $16.00 per hour, paid on the 15th and the last day of the month
- Hype Team Members can expect to work approximately 4–5 hours per home match, depending on game day assignments and operational needs.
- Opportunities to work additional club events and special events may become available throughout the season.
Schedule and Availability
This seasonal, part-time position works all Carolina Ascent FC home matches and select club events. Team members are expected to:
- Arrive prior to stadium gates opening.
- Work the full matchday shift.
- Remain through postgame responsibilities until dismissed by Game Day Leadership.
Additional matches, playoff games, and club events may be available throughout the season.
