About this role
The Inter-American Development Bank is a multilateral development institution focused on improving lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The intern will support the AML/CFT Compliance Function with risk and control assessments, controls testing, compliance monitoring, data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
What you'll do:
- Assist in the planning and coordination of the 2026-2027 AML/CFT controls testing exercise
- Support the maintenance of the AML/CFT Risk and Control Matrix (RCM) and related testing inventories
- Collect, organize, and review control documentation and evidence provided by business units
- Assist in documenting business processes and controls
- Support testing of control design and operating effectiveness under the supervision of AML/CFT compliance staff
What they're looking for:
- • Education: An active undergraduate student in Business Administration and Risk Management, Finance and Data Analytics, Law and International Relations, or Information Systems and Compliance and Risk from an accredited University. The graduation date should be after the Internship period
- • Key Skills: Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things
- • Soft Skills: Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management skills
- • Citizenship: Be a national of an IDB member country
- • Active student: Enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor's) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period
- • Consanguinity: Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest
- • First job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation (“Corporation” also known as “IDB Invest”). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (“CW”), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality
- • You must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) from January 16th to March 15th, 2027. These dates are fixed and cannot be modified. Interns must complete their assignments within this period
- + If you are an international student in the U.S.A., your work authorization is through CPT or OPT. Consult your school advisor before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week, many international students are limited to working part-time, depending on their academic standing
- • Languages: Fluency in English with a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus
- • Technical skills: (i) Familiarity with AML/CFT, sanctions, risk and control testing, audit or compliance concepts is desirable; (ii) Strong analytical and research abilities; (iii) Ability to organize and analyze data sets; (iv) Excellent written and communication skills; and (v) Knowledge of international financial institutions, development banks or regulatory frameworks is an asset
