You’ll be joining the Division of Energy’s State Energy Program whose objectives are to develop and manage strategic energy programs; conduct state energy planning activities; support development of domestic energy resources; promote economic development and investment in Missouri’s energy industry; and coordinate energy emergency planning.

The program’s core functions are to review, assess, and analyze federal energy policies and how they affect energy production and consumption in Missouri for the purpose of conducting state energy planning activities; to coordinate the development of complex, energy-related reports and recommendations; to serve as a subject matter experts on various energy-related topics as directed by State Energy Office priorities; and to develop, coordinate, and implement new energy grant or loan programs, if necessary. Energy sector subject matter experts within the unit provide technical assistance and guidance to internal and external stakeholders so that they may have the best available information when making decisions that drive Missouri towards a more reliable, affordable, and secure energy landscape.

This position will be located at Division of Energy, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City MO 65101.

Responsibilities - What you’ll do

• Review and assess national, regional, and local energy policies for their effects on Missouri’s energy landscape to inform and provide recommendations to department management, elected officials, and their teams related to the opportunities or limitations those policies pose in advancing Missouri’s energy priorities.
• Assist with communication with internal and external stakeholders on energy topics within this position portfolio.
• Assist with the planning, deployment, and implementation of new and existing energy projects and initiatives implemented by the State Energy Program.
• Assist state energy officials to engage and foster professional relationships with state and national energy stakeholders (such as state agencies and offices, federal agencies and offices, energy industry stakeholders, and non-governmental entities) with the intent to facilitate more collaboration on future energy grants, projects, and opportunities when they arise.

• Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy or other environmental science-related discipline and 0-2 years of professional experience in an environmental policy, regulatory, engineering, advocacy, or related role.
