About this role
Mesa Power Solutions is a U.S. manufacturer of reliable power systems and generator sets for industrial markets. The Industrial Software Engineer I develops, tests, and supports software connecting distributed power-generation assets with customers and internal operations across edge devices, communications, cloud services, databases, APIs, and user-facing applications.
What you'll do:
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain production software used to monitor, manage, and communicate with Mesa's distributed power-generation assets
- Implement application logic, device services, APIs, data processing, database interactions, alarms, and user-facing functionality from defined requirements
- Write maintainable code and automated tests using established standards, source control, peer review, and software-development practices
- Participate in design discussions covering interfaces, data models, communication flows, error handling, observability, and maintainability
- Diagnose software defects, performance issues, data-quality problems, and failures within distributed applications
- Contribute to CI/CD, versioning, release, deployment, monitoring, rollback, and production change processes
- Develop and support software on Linux-based telemetry and industrial edge devices, including services, logs, permissions, packages, and hardware-facing interfaces
- Assist with provisioning, configuration, remote updates, health monitoring, and lifecycle management for connected devices
- Integrate software with PLCs, controllers, sensors, instrumentation, and third-party equipment using industrial and IP-based communication protocols
- Configure and troubleshoot required network connectivity while applying established OT security practices for access, communications, hardening, segmentation, and patching
- Troubleshoot cross-layer issues, document solutions and operating procedures, and communicate progress, risks, and blockers with engineering and operational teams
- All other duties assigned
What they're looking for:
- 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited university; and/or equivalent combination of relevant education, technical training, and experience
- Any of experience writing, debugging, and testing software in at least one general-purpose programming or scripting language
- Anyof demonstrated programming experience through employment, internships, coursework, personal projects, military service, or technical training
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Foundational knowledge of software design, data structures, interfaces, error handling, debugging, testing, source control, and code review
- Ability to translate defined requirements into readable, maintainable software and verify behavior through appropriate testing
- Foundational understanding of APIs, data models, databases, messaging, and distributed application behavior
- Working familiarity with Linux command-line tools, processes, services, permissions, filesystems, logging, networking, and package management
- Basic understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, configuration management, and application lifecycle practices
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and familiarity with SCADA, telemetry, PLCs, instrumentation, or operational technology
- Awareness of secure-development and OT cybersecurity principles, including least privilege, segmentation, encryption, patching, and credential protection
- Analytical problem-solving, attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines while seeking guidance appropriately
Benefits:
- 401(k) plan
- Generous paid time off — including vacation, holidays, parental leave, and bereavement
- 100% employer-paid Health, Dental, and Vision insurance for employees and their dependents
- Employee Assistance Program
