About this role
THE POSITION
The Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS) is hiring an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2 to join the Bureau of Information Technology. This position will serve as the technical and administrative lead for enterprise infrastructure and cloud operations services, and will be responsible for supporting agency business operations and strategic technology initiatives.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The position performs administrative, consultative, architectural, and supervisory information technology work supporting complex hybrid infrastructure environments. This position is responsible to serve as the agency’s infrastructure subject matter expert, develop infrastructure standards and operational procedures, evaluate emerging technologies, and provide technical leadership for infrastructure modernization initiatives focused on cloud adoption, operational resiliency, cybersecurity, connectivity, performance optimization, and service reliability. This position will also provide guidance on technology implementations and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure secure, reliable, and resilient technology services aligned with agency business, operational, and security objectives.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours may be negotiable.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. This position is hybrid telework eligible, dependent on operational and executive leadership requirements. Telework schedule varies based on current work activities. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Organization or Location Restrictions: This posting is restricted to current PSERS Staff Only.
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1, Senior Applications Developer, Database Administrator 1, Data Administrator 1, Information Security Specialist 2, or Network Administrator 1; or
- Four years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or
- Six years of information technology experience that includes three years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services; or
- Two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION
Eligibility: All candidates must meet:

- You must be eligible for selection in accordance with Act 71 rules as outlined.
- Currently meet all requirements of one of the below listed Recruitment Methods.
Applicants must meet one of the following methods to be considered for this vacancy:

Eligibility for Promotion Without Examination (PWOE)
- Class Restrictions for Promotion Without Examination Only - You must have or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications:
- Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1
- Senior Applications Developer
- Information Security Specialist 2
- Network Administrator
- Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
- The promotion without examination requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
- Meritorious service is defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last regular or probationary performance evaluation showing an overall rating of satisfactory or higher.
- Applicants must have a minimum of one year in the next lower class(es) by the posting closing date with no break in service.
