Koniag IT Systems, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an Infrastructure & Platform Operations Lead to support KITS and our government customer in Washington, DC. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, paid parental leave, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits and tuition reimbursement.

Koniag IT Solutions (KITS) is seeking an Infrastructure & Platform Operations Lead with a minimum of 10 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory capacity, to oversee day-to-day operations of a hybrid, multi-cloud enterprise environment supporting a large federal civilian agency. The ideal candidate serves as the primary technical point of contact for infrastructure operations, coordinating platform reliability, security compliance, and change management across the program.

The Infrastructure & Platform Operations Lead will be responsible for leading enterprise data center consolidation and cloud migration efforts, managing cross-functional infrastructure teams (server, storage, database, and monitoring/SRE), and can translate agency modernization priorities into an executable operations roadmap.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary infrastructure team spanning server/cloud engineering, storage/backup, database administration, and monitoring/SRE functions.
  • Own the technical roadmap for hybrid on-premises and AWS GovCloud infrastructure, including ongoing data center exit and workload migration efforts.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Severity 1/2 incidents, driving root cause analysis and coordinating cross-team remediation.
  • Partner with the customer's Office of the CIO and program management to plan capacity, budget, and lifecycle refresh for compute, storage, and network assets.
  • Establish and enforce operational standards, runbooks, and change management processes aligned to ITIL practices and the customer's Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Oversee the business disaster continuity and recovery (BDCR) program, including DR testing, failover exercises, and recovery time/point objective (RTO/RPO) validation for mission-critical financial and case-management systems.
  • Ensure infrastructure and platform operations comply with FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, and FedRAMP requirements; support Authority to Operate (ATO) packages and continuous monitoring (ConMon) activities.
  • Manage vendor and OEM relationships (cloud, hardware, and software) and track SLA/OLA performance against contract requirements.
  • Report program-level infrastructure health, risk, and modernization progress to KITS leadership and government stakeholders.
  • Support proposal development, staffing plans, and onboarding for infrastructure operations personnel.

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience, including 3+ years leading technical teams
  • Demonstrated experience managing hybrid on-premises/cloud environments, including AWS (GovCloud preferred) and VMware virtualization

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux server administration, enterprise storage/backup, and relational database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle).
  • Experience with data center consolidation, cloud migration, or infrastructure modernization initiatives on a federal contract.
  • Working knowledge of federal IT security frameworks (FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP) and ATO/ConMon processes.
  • Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) and ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing government program and technical leadership.

Security Requirement:

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • PMP, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent process/leadership certification.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or equivalent cloud certification.
  • Experience supporting a civilian financial regulatory or capital-access/loan-servicing IT environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise monitoring/observability platforms (Splunk, SolarWinds, Grafana, or Datadog).
  • Experience managing business disaster continuity and recovery (BDCR) programs for financial systems.
