Integrated Circuit Design Engineering Co-Op (Spring-Summer 2027)

Battelle is a science and technology organization focused on solving pressing challenges and creating a safer, healthier, and more secure world. The Integrated Circuit Design Engineering Co-Op will support the design, simulation, modeling, verification, synthesis, place-and-route, and signoff of digital integrated circuits within the Cyber Trust & Assurance division.

What you'll do:

• RTL design and RTL verification of custom hardware
• Synthesis, PnR, and Signoff of GDSII databases

What they're looking for:

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
• Must be a Senior Undergraduate standing or higher
• Experience with hardware description languages (SystemVerilog, VHDL)
• Experience with the digital IC design process from RTL to GDSII
• 1+ years of industry, academic, or research experience in VLSI design, simulation, and layout
• Proficiency in OOP in Python
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and willingness to take on technical challenges
• Must be a sole US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance
• Familiarity with hardware verification methodologies, such as UVM and formal tools
• Experience with HDL generator frameworks (Chisel)
• Exposure to Cadence digital design suite (Genus, Innovus, Tempus, Pegasus)
