Intern - Accounting/Finance - Corporate

Prairie State Generating Company operates in the power generation and coal mining industries and offers a summer internship in its corporate Accounting/Finance environment. The intern will support accounting and finance activities including reconciliations, treasury functions, accounts payable, internal controls, reporting, record maintenance, and special accounting projects.

What you'll do:

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations
• Assist with treasury functions, including weekly and monthly cash reports
• Perform accounts payable and general accounting duties as assigned
• Assist with the evaluation and testing of internal accounting controls
• Assist with the preparation of ad hoc and other internal reports
• Maintain electronic/archived record of accounts payable and other accounting related records
• Work on special accounting projects which may include projects in Accounts Payable, Budgeting / Forecasting, Payroll, Tax, Compliance Assurance, and monthly financial closing processes
• Provide support to the Finance team as assigned
• Must have regular and reliable attendance

• To be considered, an individual MUST be enrolled in a college degree program in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Must be in good academic standing
• MUST be available for a 12-week program beginning in Late-May to Mid-August

• Ability to read and understand operating and accounting policies and procedures
• Ability to work unsupervised as required
• Ability to work with a team
