Intern/Co-Op-Software Engineer

Consumers Energy is a Michigan energy provider focused on delivering reliable, clean, and affordable energy. The Intern/Co-Op Software Engineer will support software development and IT projects within an agile Digital Products and Technology team, contributing to application development, process improvements, data analysis, documentation, and strategic planning.

What you'll do:

• Support the full software development lifecycle—including prototyping, design, testing, debugging, documentation, and deployment—within an agile environment using Test-Driven Design (TDD) and paired programming approaches
• Contribute technical expertise to IT projects, focusing on solution design, configuration, testing, and documentation
• Conduct market research and benchmarking to inform process improvement and strategic planning
• Develop PowerPoint presentations to communicate complex information effectively
• Ensure deliverables are accurate, timely, and within budget
• Translate user requirements into agile-based application development solutions
• Utilize software tools to analyze, interpret, and present data effectively
• Report to different leaders depending on project scope, department, and office location

• Location: This is a hybrid position, in office, minimally 3 days per week. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance from the assigned location(s) or willing to find accommodations

• Currently Enrolled and actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in the business or engineering field majoring in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a similar field
• The minimum GPA of 2.7 or higher
• Proficiency in C# and .NET frameworks (Core, .NET 5)
