About this role
Itron, Inc. is innovating new ways for utilities and cities to manage energy and water. They are seeking an Intern - Electrical Engineer to support the development of calibration data baselines and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure optimal equipment performance.
What you'll do:
- Support the development of a new calibration data baseline for test chambers and related electrical systems, ensuring a customer-centric focus on accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement
- Assist in establishing standardized calibration processes and documentation that are authentic, transparent, and aligned with quality and compliance standards
- Contribute to defining and maintaining calibration intervals, demonstrating accountability for data integrity and operational consistency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, lab operations, and maintenance teams to support chamber updates, troubleshooting, and repairs in an agile and collaborative manner
- Assist in analyzing calibration results and identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovative solutions
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and logs to support audits, performance tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support ongoing system monitoring and assist with updates to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime
What they're looking for:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, or calibration concepts
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative and practical solutions
- Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical information effectively
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accountability and accuracy in technical work
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word) for documentation and reporting
- Willingness to operate in a dynamic, agile environment supporting engineering and lab operations
- Professional workplace communication and problem-solving skills
- Part-time role, must be available to work 15-20 hours a week during the fall academic term, including on site at Itron's Liberty Lake location. Role to begin in September
- Previous internship, lab, or project experience involving calibration, testing, or instrumentation (i.e – network analyzer, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer)
- Familiarity with environmental or test chambers, measurement systems, or data acquisition tools
- Exposure to utilities, energy, or technology-driven environments with a strong customer-centric focus
