Intern Finance - Financial Planning & Analysis

NiSource is a public utility company offering a summer internship for students interested in finance-related careers. The intern will support financial planning activities, including long-range financial plans, budget-to-actual analysis, operating expense forecasts, variance analysis, and management reporting.

What you'll do:

• Successful applicants will become integral members of the department, while learning within a team environment, completing meaningful tasks and collaborating with managers on important projects
• Successful applicants will build professional relationships with other interns and all levels of NiSource personnel while participating in rewarding professional development exercises and fun, team-building activities
• Interns will obtain a broad overview of NiSource's operations and current events in the utilities industry
• The intern will gain hands-on experience in performing functions such as building long range financial plans, budget to actual analysis, preparing operating expense forecasts, developing variance analysis and producing monthly and quarterly management reports

What they're looking for:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited university with major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business discipline
• Completion of intermediate-level coursework
• Strong financial acumen and analytical ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
• Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible
• This is a 12-week summer internship program starting in May 2027, for students entering their junior or senior year in fall 2027
• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher
