About this role
American Modern Insurance Group is a leading specialty insurance provider serving over 2.5 million policyholders across the United States. This internship position in Financial Planning & Analysis offers a 12-week summer program where the intern will gain hands-on experience by performing variance analysis, supporting forecasting, conducting industry research, and collaborating across finance departments. The role also involves contributing to learning and development initiatives and enhancing related programs.
What you'll do:
- Perform monthly variance analysis across various business segments, identifying and investigating material differences to provide actionable insights
- Support forecast and planning processes by assisting with ad-hoc analysis, contributing to accurate and data-driven projections
- Conduct research on industry trends and competitor financial performance, benchmarking findings against AMIG’s performance to inform strategic decision-making
- Collaborate across key Finance business areas, including Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Portfolio Management, Reserving, Compliance, and Human Resources, to support strategic upskilling initiatives
- Track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to learning and development efforts, establishing best practices for automating data collection and presenting insights
- Innovate and propose enhancements to the long-term Learning & Development (L&D) program, including the Playbook, Newsletter, Quarterly Development Days, and Lunch & Learn sessions
What they're looking for:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree
- Ability to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks
- Confidence in use of MS Office 365 tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Notes, Teams)
- Authorized to work in the United States of America
- Candidates must be local (Amelia, OH) and will work in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays with an occasional Wednesdays for key interdepartmental meetings
- Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe PDF is preferred
