Intern - FPD

Stanford University offers internship opportunities through the Fundamental Physics Directorate at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory for students currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated. Interns gain real-world research experience through projects involving detector hardware, software development, experimental data analysis, and particle physics experiments.

What you'll do:

• Testing and development of detector hardware
• Software development for numerical simulations and analysis of experimental data
• Design and optimization of experiments in particle physics

• Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated and have US work authorization
• All accepted candidates must have or be able to timely acquire US work authorization
• A minimum commitment requested is 8 weeks
• Must be currently enrolled in an educational program or recently graduated in physics, engineering, computer science, computational science, applied mathematics, or a related science or engineering discipline
• Interest in particle physics, electronics engineering, computer science, or related field
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance is essential
• Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work
• Strong verbal and written communication
