Intern-Human Resources

Metra Commuter Rail is a major commuter rail agency serving communities in Northeastern Illinois. The Human Resources Intern will support HR functions across talent acquisition, business support, EEO, compensation, medical, and organizational development while assisting with research, analysis, writing, marketing materials, website content, and talent management system projects.

What you'll do:

• The Intern will assist in supporting general Human Resources-related functions in Talent Acquisition and Business Support, EEO, Compensation, Medical and Organizational Development
• May be assigned special projects researching, analyzing and writing
• Additionally, the intern may create and update marketing materials, and content on various websites, assist in the department’s transition into the talent management system as part of the applicant tracking module, and perform additional duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• The Intern must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in an undergraduate program, or in a graduate program, from an accredited institution
• Must be 18 years or older; able to legally work in the United States; a student in good standing for each semester/quarter during their internship; and available to work between 12 and 20 hours per week for up to one year
• Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Metra is unable to sponsor visas (e.g., H-1B or TN status) at this time
• Preferred, but not required, areas of study are Human Resources, Organizational Development, Statistics, Management, Data Analytics, or related field
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite and graphic design programs strongly preferred
• Optional: 40 hours per week during summer months
