The role also involves hardware troubleshooting, vendor coordination, testing, and technical documentation.
What you'll do:
- Low-Power Architecture & Power Optimization Define and implement system-level and component-level power strategies (sleep states, wake sources, duty cycling) to minimize current draw without sacrificing performance
- Firmware Development for Multi-Protocol Devices Develop embedded firmware modules supporting LoRa, Wi-Fi, UWB, 5G, and BLE, including drivers, state machines, and multi-radio coordination logic
- Test & Validation (Corner Cases + Field Scenarios)Design and execute tests for corner cases and real-world conditions, including stress testing and long-duration validation
- Datasheet-Driven Component Bring-Up & CharacterizationAnalyze datasheets and reference designs to configure modes, power states, and RF settings accurately
- Vendor/Chip Manufacturer Coordination Collaborate with chip vendors to clarify behaviors, request application notes, and resolve issues
- Hardware Troubleshooting & Lab Support, Support debugging in the lab using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs, addressing hardware and signal integrity issues
- Implement and validate low-power modes across MCUs and radios
- Measure and optimize current consumption in various operating modes
- Develop validation procedures and stress tests to prevent field failures
- Troubleshoot firmware/hardware interactions methodically
- Document findings and communicate effectively with teams and vendors
What they're looking for:
- Coursework or experience in embedded systems and low-level programming
- Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with interfaces like I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, ADC, DMA
- Ability to interpret datasheets and implement register configurations
- Hands-on experience with lab tools (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM)
- Strong attention to detail and testing mindset
- Experience with STM32, FreeRTOS, and power profiling/optimization
- Familiarity with wireless stacks (LoRaWAN, BLE, Wi-Fi) and RF integration
- Experience building test utilities, automation scripts, or CI regression testing
- Ability to review hardware schematics and troubleshoot board-level issues
