Intern - Operations, Clearance & Settlements

Hilltop Securities Inc. is seeking a Summer Operations Intern to gain hands-on experience in the financial services industry while supporting the Operations team. The intern will assist with clearance, settlement, transaction support, data analysis, process improvements, and special projects.

What you'll do:

• Support daily activities/operations in relation including purchase & sales, collateral, settlement, mutual funds, stock transfers, and/or government reporting
• Contribute and participate in all assigned areas; ability to handle multiple tasks
• Work to solve real world problems and deliver measurable results
• Help with ideas to improve current practices and create efficiencies
• Data analysis/data mining
• Special projects as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Rising Junior or Senior pursuing **business, finance, accounting, economics or related field** is preferred
• Computer hardware, operating system (Windows or Mac), and software/application (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook etc.) skills. Strong computer skills including Power Excel, SQL and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
• Proven self-starter who can initiate tasks and follow up to completion
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Desire to learn about career opportunities in the financial services industry
• Candidate MUST have authorization to work for any employer in the US without requiring sponsorship, whether in student status or not
• Some experience (0 – 1 year) is preferred but not required
