About this role

FEG Investment Advisors is an independently owned advisory firm providing investment consulting, outsourced chief investment officer, and research services to predominantly institutional clients. The Software Engineering Intern will support the Information Technology/Engineering team with software development, data integration, application modernization, testing, documentation, and operational support activities.

What you'll do:

  • Assist with software development tasks across internal applications, APIs, data integrations, and automation initiatives
  • Collaborate with engineers, business analysts, and technology leaders to understand requirements and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions
  • Write, test, debug, and document code under the guidance of experienced team members
  • Support application modernization efforts, including updates to legacy systems, cloud-based services, and internal tools
  • Participate in team planning, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement discussions
  • Software development support for internal applications, services, scripts, and automation tools
  • Testing, debugging, documentation, and quality assurance support for engineering deliverables
  • Data and integration support, including working with structured data, APIs, databases, and internal data workflows
  • Team collaboration, technical learning, and contribution to agile delivery practices

What they're looking for:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Foundational programming experience through coursework, projects, internships, or personal development work
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts, version control, databases, APIs, and testing practices
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a strong willingness to learn in a professional engineering environment
  • Exposure to one or more programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or SQL
  • Comfort using development tools such as Git, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, or similar environments
  • Ability to ask thoughtful questions, receive feedback, and apply guidance to improve technical work
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in learning how technology supports the investment advisory and financial services industry
  • All candidates must already have legal authorization to work in the United States at the time they apply and remain authorized throughout their employment, without requiring current or future sponsorship
