Intern, Strategy

BMW Group is seeking a Strategy Intern to support its Strategy and Foresight team. The intern will translate research and signals of change into actionable design insights, collaborate on innovation concepts, conduct trend research, and assist with workshops and strategy deliverables.

What you'll do:

• Support the Strategy and Foresight team by translating research and signals of change into actionable design insights
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (designers, consultants, researchers) to develop early-stage innovation concepts
• Contribute to internal knowledge-building through trend analysis, cultural mapping, and future scenario exploration
• Conduct market, behavioral, and technological trend research to inform project and client strategy
• Organize and maintain an innovation archive (e.g., trend boards or foresight canvases) to support team inspiration and ideation
• Assist in workshops, synthesis sessions, and deliverables development (e.g., vision decks, opportunity maps, strategy playbooks)

What they're looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor or master's degree program at an accredited college or university
• Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
• Have completed at least 60 college credits or be at least a rising Junior
• Field of study: Design Strategy, Innovation, Foresight, Business, Human-Centered Design, or a related field
• Must attach a copy of college unofficial transcript
• Ability to work full-time (36.25 hours/week)
• Prior BMW Group experience (applicable to international J1 students only)
• Strong research, synthesis, and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex information into visual and written insights
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position. This is a hybrid role that requires four in office days at the Santa Monica, CA office and one remote day
• Preferred: familiarity with collaborative tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, Adobe Suite) and strategic frameworks (e.g., STEEP, Futures Wheel)
