About this role
Energy Transfer is seeking motivated interns for its summer program supporting commercial, marketing, trading, and business development activities related to crude oil pipeline, terminal, and gathering assets. The role involves conducting market analysis, developing analytical tools, supporting pricing and trade analysis, and gaining exposure to risk management, ETRM systems, and physical and financial commodity markets.
What you'll do:
- Support ad-hoc research and market analysis projects under the direction of traders and commercial analysts to help inform trading and marketing decisions
- Assist in building and refining tools (Excel, Python, VBA, or other platforms) that improve efficiency, automate workflows, and enhance visibility into market and trading data
- Collaborate across teams — including Trading, Risk, Operations, Accounting, and Scheduling — to observe and support how commercial activities translate into physical and financial outcomes
- Work alongside traders to provide timely analytical support, contribute to pricing models, and participate in discussions around trade ideas and market opportunities
- Gain exposure to ETRM systems and assist in verifying trade entry, pricing accuracy, and reconciliation processes as part of daily risk and position management
- Develop a hands-on understanding of physical and financial crude oil markets (or applicable commodity)
- Build practical skills in market analysis, commercial problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making
- Learn how commercial trading desks coordinate with other parts of the organization to manage risk and execute strategy
What they're looking for:
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication, and computer related skills (MS Word, Excel & Power Point)
- General requirements include self-motivated individuals with a desire to learn and contribute to the energy sector
- The selections of disciplines include Engineering & Finance
- Above average GPA 3.0
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
- Preferably junior status as of Fall
