*Internal Candidate Only* Student Intern for Post-Earthquake/GIS modeling - Remote (Los Angeles, CA)

University Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a student assistant for the Department of Conservation, California Geological Survey. The role involves creating a post-earthquake model using GIS tools to assess potential damage areas after earthquakes, collaborating closely with GIS staff and engineering geologists.

What you'll do:

• Research and understand earthquakes and associated hazards
• GIS model building, searching for data sources
• Working with engineering geologists to ensure models are accurate and results are as expected

What they're looking for:

• Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list
• Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students
• Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting
• Experience with GIS software, including ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Experience with spatial analysis, mapping, and geospatial modeling
• Coursework or experience in geology, earthquake science, or a related field
• Experience with coding or scripting using Python and/or SQL
• Familiarity with QGIS or other geographic information system (GIS) software
