Internship, Financial Analyst at a Law Firm

Hawkins Delafield & Wood LLP is a law firm seeking an intern for their Financial Analysis & Services group. The primary role of the intern is to assist financial analysts in preparing financial analyses and calculations related to tax-exempt bond financings.

What you'll do:

• Assist the analysts to prepare various financial analyses and calculations relating to tax-exempt bond financings to ensure compliance with certain federal tax laws and regulations
• Gather historical investment information and analyze such information using various spreadsheet models to determine investment returns and federal tax compliance
• Assist the analysts to prepare arbitrage reports which includes a summary of all assumptions and methodologies and the calculations for governmental clients
• Assist in the development of financial models, preparing yield calculations, loan amortization schedules, complex allocation analyses, swap/hedge analysis, presentations, marketing materials, and research

• Enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate degree
• Knowledge of fixed income securities
• Knowledge of general market principles
• Knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications
• Knowledge of accounting principles
• Preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, statistics or other technical field
