Internship, Fullstack Engineer, AI Tooling (Winter/Spring 2027)

Tesla is seeking an intern to join its AI Tooling teams supporting Optimus and Autopilot development. The role focuses on building and maintaining fullstack web tools, debugging live systems, collaborating with engineering teams, and monitoring system performance and reliability.

What you'll do:

• Improve and maintain the frontends and backends of our AI web tools
• Work with controls, planning, and machine learning engineers to build tooling tailored to their workflows
• Debug issues with our live system, identify the root causes, and fix them
• Build metrics and monitor performance + reliability of our systems

What they're looking for:

• Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program
• You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field of study with a graduation date between May 2027 - May 2028
• Must be able to relocate and work on site in Palo Alto, CA
• Strong knowledge of Python and Typescript
• Experience building modern web applications using React (Three.js nice to have)
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, or neural networks is a plus but not required
• Experience with k8s is preferred
