Internship, Machine Learning Engineer, Factory Software (Winter/Spring 2027)

Tesla is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer Intern for its Factory Software team. The role focuses on machine vision, data processing, model development, algorithm development, data mining, and project management for production and operational systems.

What you'll do:

• Responsible for the collection, sorting, filtering, cleaning, and other work of large batches of images for machine vision projects, need to be able to use tools such as Python, OpenCV, PIL, Pandas, Numpy, etc
• Responsible for data preprocessing for machine vision project classification, object recognition, image segmentation models, etc., as well as model training, iteration, and retraining, as well as model accuracy improvement, model search and other model-related tasks
• Responsible for the algorithm development tasks of the machine vision project platform, mainly involving Python software development and algorithm development
• Use machine learning and data mining and other related technologies to mine the business value of massive user data to meet business development needs
• Responsible for connecting with the company's internal machine vision projects and can independently undertake project management tasks

What they're looking for:

• This position is expected to start around January 2027 and continue through the entire Spring term (ending approximately May 2027 or later, if available)
• We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, Full - Time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships
• Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program
• You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field with a graduation date between December 2027-December 2028
• Able to relocate and work onsite in Fremont, CA
• Good knowledge of Python, Javascript/Typescript, Golang or similar
• Experience working with one or more infrastructure components (MySQL, PostgreSQL, In-memory caches, among others)
• Experience building modern web applications
