Internship-Product Development Engineer Summer 2027

HNI Corporation is a manufacturer of workplace furnishings and building products operating across workplace furnishings and residential building products segments. The Product Development Engineering Intern will work on projects that create value for business partners, applying classroom knowledge to product development, production and processing methods, and quality standards while collaborating with mentors and cross-functional teams.

What you'll do:

• HNI’s summer internship program is a great opportunity for first-hand experience in your field of interest. You'll work on one or more projects that create value for our business partners
• We will assign you projects that are critical to company success and aligned with your individual interests
• From working on the development and implementation of production and processing methods to controls for quality standards, our engineering interns are challenged and charged with continually seeking better ways of conducting business . . . continually asking . . . How can this be improved?
• Each summer, engineering interns receive a project (or two!) for the summer and work directly with a mentor for technical and professional guidance
• Throughout the summer, professional development sessions are provided for interns including opportunities to learn from and network with senior leadership

What they're looking for:

• Minimum 2.8 GPA
• Pursuing a four-year degree in engineering
• Strong leadership characteristics and be active in college activities
• Self-starter with high personal motivation and desire to take initiative and ownership
• Strong technical acumen and desire for a career in Engineering
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Able to develop alternative solutions and work well in individual and group problem solving situations
• Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
• We are not accepting any candidates that require company sponsorship to legally work in the United States
