Internship, Software Engineer, Automated Diagnostics Intern (Spring 2027)

Tesla is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to support its Automated Diagnostics Team. The role focuses on remotely diagnosing vehicle issues, improving customer self-service experiences through the Tesla App, and automating service appointments when repairs are needed.

What you'll do:

• Committed to building out the capabilities for quickly and accurately diagnosing vehicle issues remotely with limited customer interaction
• Owning the entire customer experience, from the entry point in the Tesla App to the providing solutions for self-service
• Automating service appointments when a repair is necessary

What they're looking for:

• International Students: If your work authorization is via CPT, consult your school regarding your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week onsite
• - Strong proficiency in Python or Golang
• - Deep experience in API Development
• - Solid understanding of Distributed Systems principles and architectures
• - Hands-on experience with Applied Machine Learning (model deployment, inference pipelines, or ML system integration)
• - Backend development expertise with production-grade services
• - Knowledge of event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• - Proficiency with databases (SQL and NoSQL)
• - Strong background in observability (monitoring, logging, tracing)
• - Genuine interest in customer experience and building high-impact, user-facing systems
• - Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills
• - A passion for troubleshooting failures, improving code quality, and optimizing system efficiency, monitoring, and observability
