Inventory Specialist

Supply Chain Operations is hiring an Inventory Specialist to manage key programs of work for inventory and materials management across our eight warehouses.   You will be responsible for the day-to-day processing of inventory and a wide variety of complex procedures in direct support of Warehousing and Materials Management. You will be responsible for quality control, monitoring short-term inventory needs and plans, conducting inventory research and analysis, troubleshooting inventory problems, and creating new inventory item records. 

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Verifying and inspecting materials with purchase orders and quality standards
  • Operating Forklifts as needed
  • Performing data entry and preparing detailed reports
  • Prioritizing and reviewing work projects for the day
  • Review cycle inventory counts and adjust as needed
  • Assisting in the design and layout of the warehouse
  • Coordinating with the Purchasing Department to initiate purchase requests, expedite
  • deliveries, resolve shipment problems, and return unsatisfactory items
  • Creates new inventory item records, including Assets to Item Record; updates item
  • records based on reviews of descriptions and manufacturer part numbers
  • Analyzing and evaluating material usage and turnover patterns
  • Warehouse and inventory control procedures
  • Understands the cost related to individual performance

Who you are...
Qualified candidates will have considerable experience in warehousing and inventory management. Some technical training and/or formal education in distribution and materials management would be necessary. Mechanical aptitude required. In addition, the successful candidate will be skilled in operating a forklift and obtain forklift certification within six months of hire. Additionally, we seek the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • Must have and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license, as you will be traveling to multiple sites to perform your work
  • Skilled in materials management techniques
  • Ability to perform tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience using computer hardware and software applications, including inventory management software such as: Maximo or SAP
  • Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth
  • Demonstrates individual commitment to an incident and injury-free workplace; takes personal responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others
