About this role
Harford Mutual Insurance Group is a mutual insurance carrier providing commercial property and casualty insurance products and services. The IT Intern will support the application development group by configuring software, developing and maintaining applications, querying databases, and collaborating with project teams and stakeholders.
What you'll do:
- Configure third-party and low-code platforms, including GhostDraft, Sapiens PolicyPro, and Origami Risk, according to business requirements
- Develop and maintain software solutions using C#, .NET, and React
- Write SQL Server queries to retrieve, analyze, and validate data
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, testers, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by a supervisor
What they're looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of coursework in software development, databases, or related technical areas
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance
- Demonstrate understanding of fundamental Computer Science principles such as conditionals, loops, algorithms, data structures, and event-driven programming
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming concepts and modern software development practices
- Experience through coursework, personal projects, or internships using technologies such as C#, .NET, React, or similar frameworks
- Basic understanding of relational databases, database design, and SQL
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university preferably in an information technology related field of study such as computer science, information science, computer engineering, or software engineering
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira is a plus
