About this role
IU Health Medical Group South Region in Bloomington, Indiana is seeking a Psychiatrist to join our team!
Our behavioral health programs are designed to provide personalized, patient-centered care that recognizes the unique needs of every individual. Referrals come from a variety of sources, including primary care physicians, private therapists, and community agencies, with each patient receiving a comprehensive assessment to ensure placement in the program best suited to their needs.
Providers enjoy a highly collaborative and supportive practice environment, working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of therapists with dedicated onsite leadership, including both a Clinical Manager and a Business Operations Manager.
Position Details
- Full-time employment opportunity
- Monday - Friday
- 8am - 5pm
- No call or outreach requirements
- 100% outpatient work
- Patient volume: 30-35/week
- Team currently includes 2 Psychiatrists, 2 Nurse Practitioners, and therapists

- Individual psychotherapy and psychoeducational groups
- Medical and psychosocial evaluation

- Individual, group and family therapy
Responsibilities
- Evaluates patients for mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
- Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, and determines the appropriate course of treatment for the patient.
- Directs treatment for the patient by utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications.
- Communicates with third parties involved in the care and management of the patient.
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Osteopathic Doctor (DO) degree is required.
- Certification by the Credentialing Board in the physician's specialty within five years of employment with Bloomington Hospital is required.
- Current license for unrestricted practice of medicine by the State of Indiana required.
- Current unrestricted Indiana Department of Professional Standards and US Drug Enforcement Administration certifications required. Requires current license for unrestricted practice in medicine by the State of Indiana.
- Requires current unrestricted Indiana Department of Professional Standards and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration certifications.
- Requires certification by the Credentialing Board in the physician's specialty within 5 years of employment.

Compensation and Benefits
- Guaranteed base salary model
- Quality bonus potential

- $5,000 of CME allowance/year

Healthcare System/Hospital Description
The new IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center, part of the Indiana University Health Medical Group, opened in December 2021. The facility offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.
At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
