Summary

Are you obsessed with solving business problems that have a real, positive impact on our customers and company? We are an AI-first engineering shop, leveraging AI tools to solve business problems. As an entry-level Data Platform Engineer, you will be the pilot driving AI tools for infrastructure-as-code, automation, security, monitoring, and production support of our cloud data platform. Your primary responsibility is not to hand-write code all day, but to serve as the skilled human-in-the-cockpit ensuring AI-generated data solutions are correct, secure, and performant, and solve the most impactful business problems.

• You will then use your business knowledge to unleash your internal entrepreneur to identify, understand, and solve business problems.
• You will solve business problems by building AI-generated data solutions:
• Collaborate closely with business partners to turn requirements into precise prompts and acceptance criteria.
• Expertly prompt and iterate with AI coding tools to produce high-quality solutions.
• Provision and manage platform objects: databases, schemas, warehouses, roles, and access grants following least-privilege principles.
• Monitor platform health, query performance, job reliability, and consumption; investigate anomalies and drive them to root cause.
• Build and maintain cost visibility and optimization by right-sizing compute, finding runaway spend, and reporting on trends.
• Identify bugs, security issues, performance problems, data quality issues, or architectural mismatches in AI output and either fix them or re-prompt effectively.
• After you deliver a platform improvement, constantly circle back with the engineers and business partners who use it to confirm it solved the problem and rapidly iterate to improve it.
• Work in a team setting with other engineers or tackle a problem independently.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 0-2 years of professional experience (internships and academic or personal projects count).
• Strong SQL skills and working knowledge of relational databases.
• Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (compute, storage, and least privilege).
• Working knowledge of Git and pull-request-based workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to clearly explain technical work, reasoning, and trade-offs, verbally and in writing, to engineers and business partners.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and prompt-driven development (professional, internship, academic, or personal projects).
• Exposure to cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Exposure to AWS or another cloud platform.
• Exposure to database administration concepts: users and roles, access, and performance tuning (coursework and projects count).
• Exposure to monitoring, logging, or observability tooling.
• Familiarity with data modeling and data warehousing concepts.
