About this role
CGI is seeking a Junior Full-Stack AI Engineer to build and deploy scalable AI-powered applications as part of its AI engineering team. The role develops backend services, APIs, data pipelines, model integrations, and frontend experiences, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready AI solutions.
What you'll do:
- Design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered applications, including backend services, APIs, data pipelines, model integrations, and user-facing interfaces
- Build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services using Python and develop responsive frontend applications using Angular
- Implement and integrate generative AI, large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), document classification, optical character recognition (OCR), and conversational AI capabilities
- Support machine learning model inference, training, fine-tuning, and optimization to deliver reliable, production-ready AI solutions
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, system integrations, and database solutions that enable seamless communication across AI platform components
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and scalable software delivery
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, UI/UX designers, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into innovative AI-driven features
- Design and implement client-focused AI use cases leveraging CGI's AI Platform, taking ownership of assigned features from development through deployment
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance, reliability, security, and scalability across development and production environments
- Contribute to technical design discussions, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and peer mentoring while promoting engineering best practices and continuous improvement
What they're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 0–2 years of hands-on experience in full-stack application development, with proficiency in Python for backend development and Angular for frontend development
- 0–2 years of practical experience developing or contributing to AI-powered applications involving generative AI, NLP, document classification, chatbots, OCR, or related intelligent automation capabilities, including academic or project-based experience
- Foundational understanding of machine learning, LLM inference, model integration, and the software development practices required to build AI-enabled applications
- Working knowledge of RESTful APIs, system integration patterns, and modern software engineering principles
- Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, and their use in deploying and managing applications
- Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, including database design, querying, and performance optimization concepts
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for application development, deployment, or AI workloads
- Understanding of secure development practices, data privacy principles, regulatory considerations, and responsible AI development
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams, adapt to emerging technologies, and demonstrate ownership and accountability in a fast-paced environment
- Experience developing applications using LLM frameworks, orchestration libraries, or AI development tools such as LangChain, Hugging Face, or similar technologies
- Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, embeddings, prompt engineering, or AI agent development
Benefits:
- Comprehensive insurance options
- Matching contributions through the 401(k) plan and the share purchase plan
- Paid time off for vacation, holidays, and sick time
- Paid parental leave
- Learning opportunities and tuition assistance
