Jr. Software Engineer

Tria Federal delivers digital services and technology solutions supporting the health and safety of veterans, service members, and civilians. The Junior Software Engineer will build, enhance, and maintain API services, backend systems, and integrations for a VA claims adjudication system, collaborating with cross-functional teams in agile sprints.

What you'll do:

• Enhance and maintain API, Claim Ingest API, and backend supporting systems
• Develop integrations with VA.gov, the VA API ecosystem (vets-api), mobile apps, and staff-facing tools
• Implement performant, secure, and reliable services for automated claim adjudication and processing
• Support two-week sprint delivery through coding, testing, and documentation
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and continuous improvement activities
• Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD workflows and zero-downtime deployments
• Troubleshoot production issues and participate in on-call escalations where needed
• Ensure all work adheres to VA standards including 508 accessibility, security, and authoritative data usage

What they're looking for:

• Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance
• Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States
• Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years
• Experience in backend service development using modern programming languages
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, integrations, and asynchronous processing
• Understanding of cloud deployment patterns and automated testing
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, and security
