Junior Accountant

New Castle Building Products (NCBP) is a full-service distributor based in White Plains, NY. In this role, you will provide support to the Controller and Accounting Manager in carrying out responsibilities of the Finance/Accounting department.

What you'll do:

• Post and reconcile bank transactions on a regular basis
• Assist in all phases of closing and reporting including preparation of journal entries, analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, analysis of variances in income statement and balance sheet accounts
• Maintain appropriate journal entries, accruals, and prepaid schedules where necessary
• Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and procedures
• Prepare audit schedules for annual independent audit when needed
• Prepare sales and other tax returns
• Work on special projects and analysis when requested
• You will be expected to perform other duties as assigned

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• Accountant should be focused, accurate and dedicated
• Excellent Excel and analytical skills
• Ability to work well independently
• Knowledge of accrual basis accounting, fixed asset accounting and tax filing requirements
• Minimum of 1 – 2 years of corporate accounting experience is preferred
