Junior Electrical Engineer

Amentum is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our team in McLean, Virginia. The Junior Electrical Engineer provides technical and administrative support for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of power generation and facility systems, assisting with maintenance, compliance, and operational activities.

What you'll do:

• Assist in the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical equipment associated with power generation and facility infrastructure
• Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities for electrical systems
• Perform equipment inspections and assist with condition assessments
• Review electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation for accuracy and updates
• Assist in root cause analysis of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
• Support commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment
• Coordinate with operations personnel to minimize equipment downtime
• Monitor electrical system performance and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and reliability
• Participate in plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance outages
• Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
• Assist with planning and scheduling maintenance work orders
• Coordinate with maintenance technicians and contractors during scheduled work

What they're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
• 0–3 years of engineering experience in power generation, industrial facilities, manufacturing, utilities, or facility operations
• Fundamental understanding of electrical power systems, motors, generators, transformers, switchgear, and protective devices
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles
• Basic understanding of electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and schematics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or higher U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
• Internship or cooperative education experience in industrial or power systems preferred
• Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is preferred
