Junior Software Developer

Laansu has an engaging opportunity for a talented Software Developer to build their career and help save lives on the nation's road infrastructure. The Software Developer will build and support software products used by the Department of Transportation and the public at large to help ensure the safety of drivers and passengers on public roadways. ## Responsibilities - Receive tasks and requirements details from the program manager. Analyze the scope of work and provide estimated development timelines. - Follow an agile sprint-based development schedule. Unit test modules before handing them off to the Test Team. Assist the Test Team with load, performance, and throughput testing where required. - Peer review colleagues' work and provide feedback for improvement. Accept constructive feedback from colleagues and grow your skillset on the job. - Take notes during meetings, ask questions to obtain clarifications where needed, and document design decisions and technical details. - Maintain source code version control in GitHub. - Work independently if needed. Design, implement, document, and maintain robust software solutions that will be in service over multiple years. - Take on additional responsibilities over time and advance your career. ## Required qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (CS). - 0–3 years of work experience in software development or a related engineering field. - 1+ years of writing object-oriented code in C#, C++, or Java. - 1+ years of building ASP.NET Core web applications or APIs. - 1+ years of designing objects in relational databases, including tables, views, stored procedures, and indexes. - 1+ years of creating rich web application user interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript. - Familiarity with at least one Object Relational Mapping (ORM) tool, such as Entity Framework. - Familiarity with at least one source code version control tool, such as GitHub. ## Preferred qualifications - Familiarity with building automation using UiPath. - Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). - Hands-on experience with web UI frameworks such as Angular and Bootstrap. - Familiarity with desktop UI frameworks such as Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF). - Familiarity with hosting web applications in Internet Information Services (IIS). - Hands-on experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines. ## Employment authorization and clearance Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship: US citizens, permanent residents (Green Card), or EAD holders.
