Junior Software Engineer – AI/ML Applications

Leidos delivers innovative defense and technology solutions for government and commercial customers. The company is seeking an entry-level software developer to design, develop, and maintain AI/ML-enabled applications, build scalable data pipelines, and integrate machine learning models into electro-optical/infrared sensor simulations while collaborating with engineers and scientists.

What you'll do:

• Candidate can expect to design, develop, and maintain software applications with AI/ML capabilities; build scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze large datasets; collaborate with a team of engineers and scientists to integrate machine learning models into EO/IR sensor simulations; optimize performance, reliability, and scalability for data-intensive workloads
• Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and have familiarity with software development for both Windows and Linux OS

What they're looking for:

• * Candidate must possess at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant software development experience
• * Strong, demonstrated experience in object-oriented programming principles
• * Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, C++, C#
• * Understanding of software design principles and version control (Git)
• * Experience processing and analyzing large datasets
• * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• * 0+ years of experience in a related field
• * Must be a US Citizen
• * Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• * Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area
• * Candidate is also expected to have the ability to work and to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team and have familiarity with software development for both Windows and Linux OS
• * Highly organized, demonstrating the ability to work independently at times due to a fast-paced and highly productive work environment
